What is an FFL?
This might be obvious to an experienced firearms hobbyist, but to the beginning hobbyist, not so much. FFL is the acronym for Federal Firearms License. This, as Wikipedia puts it, 'is a license that enables an individual or company to engage in a business pertaining to the manufacture of firearms and ammunition or the interstate and intrastate sale of firearms. Holding an FFL to engage in certain activities has been a legal requirement within the USA since the enactment of the Gun Control Act of 1968.

How does this pertain to you as a customer? Federal law says that any person purchasing a firearm must have the firearm shipped to an FFL holder directly for subsequent transfer to the customer and that transfer must be made in person. The FFL holder must submit a copy of his FFL to the sender to ensure that the destination of the firearm is the same as the shipping address on the license. Once the customer fills out the required paperwork (ATF yellow copy), the FFL holder initiates a backgound check on the customer with the FBI NICS. The background check must be returned with approval in order for the firearm to be released to the customer.

Occasionally, the FBI NICS issues a 'delay response' (of up to 3 days) or a 'denied response'. These responses are out of the control of the FFL holder and he is given no reason for them. You do, however, have a right to request in writing the reason for the 'denied response'. The FFL holder should have the denied response inquiry forms available for your use.

I hope this answers some of your questions about the needs and requirements of the FFL and FFL holder.

Hard to Find Ammo
Has anyone out there got .22 ammo? If you do, you're about the only one! We've looked everywhere and .22 ammo is just not available right now. Our regular suppliers don't have any, our local Wally-world (Walmart) is totally out, even our brand new area Gander Mountain was out of stock within 2 hours of opening!

People seem to be buying the .22, .223 and .308 up in quantity, afraid that a restriction might be put in place before long on these popular items.

Just wanted to let you know before you ask, I don't have any either!
